Blog Action Day, a new kind of awareness endeavor has launched their inaugural campaign and the topic this year will be the environment. The yearly initiative aims to unite bloggers on a single topic, employing their large readerships to spread important and relevant information to others. On October 15th, bloggers can participate in two ways: by writing about a pertinent environmental issue or by donating the day’s blog profits to an environmental charity. Said Blog Action Day founder, Collis Ta'eed: "Our motivation in creating the day was to bring bloggers together, to get them talking, thinking and reaching out to their audiences. In an age when information technology is becoming central to our everyday activity, it is appropriate that we find ways to harness that power to build a better world."
If you would like to participate on your blog, please go to http://blogactionday.org/commit to sign up. So far, over 5,000 bloggers have committed to the day, reaching a projected 3.6 million readers.
Support your favorite participating blogs by giving them your readership on October 15th and please check back here on October 16th, for a review of the best of Blog Action Day 2007.
