South Korean scientists have cloned cats by modifying their genes. The gene which was manipulated is the fluorescent protein gene, which could end up helping fight human diseases. The cats were born in Jan/Feb of 2007, one of the cats was stillborn the others grew up to live healthy lives.

Genetic research should also benefit as cats share as many as 250 different kinds of genetic diseases with humans.
