Boston Mass. based, Greenyarn, through continuous research and developments have created eco-fabrics for use in many different products. Their pledge is simple, but the impact is great:

“Greenyarn strives to produce revolutionary products using environmentally friendly process and materials. Greenyarn aspires to be the leading brand name for new eco-friendly textile and apparel.

Through continuous research and development, Greenyarn offers eco-friendly fabric to satisfy the need for a new age fabric. Greenyarn provides good service and quality products, and hopes to build good relationship with their customers.”

Besides being good for the environment, the benefits of eco-fabric are many. Bamboo has a nature de-odorizing property. It can decompose benzene, phenol, methyl alcohol, and other harmful substances. Beside killing odor it has an antibacterial property as well. The eco-fabric is also very breathable and dries very quickly, making it a good choice for athletic clothing. It’s a good insulator, so helps regulate the wearers temperature. It also helps prevent static electricity. According to their website, “As bamboo-carbon nano particles are conductive, their presence in the fiber helps Eco-fabric prevent charge buildup. As a result, wearer of Eco-fabric products will not experience unnecessary static-electrical shock even in dry conditions.”

The eco-fabrics are created using nano particles of bamboo-charcoal. First, they choose bamboo that is 4 to 5 years old grown naturally in the Jhushan, Taiwan (Bamboo Mountain). Next, the bamboo collected is heated and dried at 800 degrees Celsius. This step turns the bamboo plant into bamboo charcoal. The bamboo charcoal is further processed into a fine nano particle dust. Then the bamboo nano particles are added to cotton (rayon), polyester or nylon fabrics. Then, the fiber is the drawn into yarn and later processed to make Eco-fabric.

Greenyarn supplies fabric to such manufacturing giants as Reebok, Sketchers and Wilson Sports. And the products they help make include beauty, sports, slumber gear, socks, and more!
